Strokestown, Roscommon selected for Town Centre First Plan €100,000 funding

Really exciting news for Strokestown in Roscommon. Strokestown is the very first town in Roscommon to be selected for the development of the first ever Town Centre First Plan.
Funding is being made available to support 26 towns nationally to help map out their future development. Put a spotlight on tackling dereliction, vacant properties and making town centres more attractive places to live, work, socialise and run a business. The initiative will help re-imagine and revitalise rural communities as part of forthcoming Town Centre First Policy.
Congratulations to the Town Team in Strokestown and retailers coming together with regeneration teams in Roscommon County Council to win this funding for Strokestown. Now these groups working together will develop Town Centre First plan and clear actions to deliver these projects.
During the summer, Minister Heather Humphreys visited Strokestown and meet with local groups as well as the Strokestown Park & Famine Museum with Councillor Liam Callaghan. The Minister had an opportunity to see the investment to date in the national Famine Museum and this fund of €100k will add to it.
