Speaking on Sick Leave Bill in Seanad Éireann

Speaking on Sick Leave Bill june 29th - for the first time people in the private sector with no company scheme will now be entitled to sick leave pay. We are at committee stage in the Seanad - next step will be enacting the Bill into law!
It starts with 3 days once the bill is enacted rising to 10 days over the next 4 years. So important for people who don't receive pay when sick. Government working with employers to support them in providing this pay when people are sick
Ground-breaking legislation on Worker's Rights and part of 5 bills we are working on in the #Seanad
🔹 The right to request remote working.
🔹 The protection of tips.
🔹 Redundancy rights for people laid off during the pandemic.
🔹 Additional Bank Holiday - St Brigid's Day
Sick pay will be paid by employers at a rate of 70% of an employee’s wage, subject to a daily maximum threshold of €110. The daily earnings threshold of €110 is based on 2019 mean weekly earnings of €786.33 and equates to an annual salary of €40,889.16
