So how many of us have run a marathon???
And imagine if you could do it in 6th class...
Welcome funding from Galway Sports Partnership and Healthy Galway through Sport Ireland for Ballinasloe.
6th class children in over 30 primary schools in the Ballinasloe area have the opportunity to take part in Marathon Kids Ireland - fantastic initiative to encourage activity from a young age. Report of the programme in Dublin show the excitement as kids increase their fitness level each week from 600m and run the 26 miles in 8 weeks! That's some achievement to have on your CV from Age 11 or 12!
Thank you to our Prinicipals and teachers who may be able to take on this activity which starts 18th October or they can select a time that suits the school. Imagine learning how to be so active at a young age that could last a lifetime!
Lots of focus on athletics and the Community Games we have here in town with incredible volunteers and co-ordinators from the town. Wishing over 700 children and their family well in the Regional Finals in UL this weekend for Outdoor Sports. Lots of representatives from Roscommon & Galway including Ballinasloe Tag Tugby Team!
Here's to Ballinasloe having the healthiest children in Ireland!!!
