Plans for the replacement of the CT Scanner at Roscommon University Hospital -

Senator Aisling Dolan welcomes the announcement of plans for the replacement of the CT Scanner at Roscommon University Hospital progress to stage two in today’s HSE Capital Plan i.e. appraisal stage.

“I am delighted to see plans to replace the CT scanner at Roscommon University Hospital is progressing.  Ensuring medical staff and patients have access to the latest equipment in the Radiology dept is so important and to see continued investment at Roscommon University is a priority for me. Ensuring that medical staff and patients have access to the latest equipment in the Radiology department is crucial for providing high-quality healthcare in Roscommon and surrounding areas. I am working with Marie Doorly, the RU Hospital manager, and the staff on the HSE spatial plan. Addressing the parking challenges at RU Hospital is also a priority, and I am dedicated to fighting for funding to support the hospital an essential facility in Roscommon town and hinderlands.

It’s great to see the HSE’s investment in the Plunkett Home Community Nursing Unit in Boyle, this facility is set to benefit from a Deep Energy and Carbon Retrofit Pilot Pathfinder Project, which is being carried out in partnership with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI). The project is currently at the detailed design stage. This initiative aims to enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly healthcare facility and ensure comfort for staff and patients.

The investment in the Sacred Heart Hospital in Roscommon well overdue, we need more space for older people in our community and I am working hard to see this happen.  This project, which is included in today’s HSE capital plan, is moving forward to the detailed design stage. Patients at the Sacred Heart Hospital will benefit from improved facilities, as the outdated 1960s single-story accommodation units (known as Our Lady’s and St. Joseph’s), are set to be demolished. In their place, a new two-story 50-bed Community Nursing Unit will be constructed.
