Over 8,000 families in County Roscommon to receive €100 increase Child Benefit payments this week - Dolan

Additional €100 per child in Child Benefit payments to be paid on Tuesday to assist families with Cost of Living

8,161 families in County Roscommon will receive increased Child Benefit payments this week, a Fine Gael Senator has said. An additional €100 per child will be paid tomorrow (Tuesday) to support 650,000 families across the country with the Cost of Living. The additional support means that €240 per child will be paid this month in respect of over 1.2 million children.

Senator Aisling Dolan  said:

“The increase of €100 this month will help families especially as they plan summer activities for children. It is the time of year when school comes to a close and families may need to look at extra childcare costs. Over 33,000 families across County Roscommon will receive a welcome €240 for each child and young person under 18 for the month of June. This is in addition to the extra €100 for families who receive the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance ”

“I’d like to thank my colleague Minister Heather Humphreys for securing this extra budget for families under the Department of Social Protection in February 2023 which is on top of the €2.2 billion in supports under Budget 2023.

“This extra child benefit payment will be received in people’s bank accounts from tomorrow. It follows the €200 Cost of Living Payment in April, which supported 1.3 million pensioners, carers, people with disabilities and working families,” Senator Aisling Dolan said.

“I’d also like to wish young people well in the Junior Cert and Leaving Cert exams. Parents do so much to look after students as they prepare for exams and it can be a stressful period. Now we have so much choice for students to follow a chosen career path through apprenticeships, post leaving cert courses as well as the traditional routes through college.” added Senator Dolan

Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys said: “I’m pleased to confirm that I have co-signed the regulations along with Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Paschal Donohoe, which will put this €100 increase into effect.

“Parents who receive the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance will also receive an additional €100 for each child this summer.

“This package of measures, in addition to the €2.2 billion of supports secured as part of Budget 2023, underlines our continued commitment to address the increased cost of living being experienced by families.”
