New Funding for the Hymany Way

Great to see funding for the #HymanyWay part of the #BearaBreifne waymarked trails going through #Ballinasloe. 🚶‍♂️🚴‍♀️🚴
  • Grants of up to €3,000 to be provided to 175 community groups
  • Funding will support maintenance works and marketing of trails to visitors
Thanks to Paddy Naughton and the Aughrim Development Association working with Beara Breifne Trails Group. There is also funding for the Killure Loop.
This funding will support the maintenance of the trails for local community & visitors.
The Hymany Way is an 80km long-distance County Galway trail; begins in Portumna and ends in Ballygar, it can take around 4 days to complete. Why not check out a route close to you? Find out more about the Hymany Way; https://www.bearabreifneway.ie/hymany-way/

Announcing the funding today, Minister Humphreys said:

“These trails are huge tourism draws for rural counties and provide a welcome boost in footfall to small businesses in our rural towns and villages.

“This new initiative which I am announcing today in conjunction with Sport Ireland is all about keeping these trails in top condition and supporting their use by both domestic and international visitors.

“Ireland’s first ever National Outdoor Recreation Strategy is currently being developed by my Department in conjunction with Comhairle na Tuaithe. The Strategy, which will be launched shortly, will provide a long term vision for the growth and development of outdoor recreation in Ireland.
