Great step forward for GMIT with IT Sligo & Letterkenny IT to make a submission for Technological University status to Minister Harris today.

This is thanks to all the teams across 9 campuses who have been working for years on this to meet the tough criteria to become a university.

It will mean potential for further outreach in all our towns in the West and more campuses too in time to come. Students can go from diploma to PhD and it's all within our reach. Can link with further study with GRETB Adult Guidance & Information Service or with Apprenticeship Ireland where you can earn & learn. More options for part-time, online study for all ages to suit our lives.

A technological university will build on existing links like GMIT has with micro-enterprises & SMEs & drive innovation & a competitive edge. And our amazing graduates will attract investment to the West. We owe so much to the excellence of our lecturers, tutors, project managers, administrators and students that helped make this happen.

More support for community groups and to make our towns comes alive - there is such opportunity here.
