Great to see investment of €65 million in AstraZeneca & Alexion at Monksland as well as Blanchardstown in Dublin.
This hugely significant investment by Alexion as part of AstraZeneca in their Irish operations. It is testament to the strong pharma sector and the talent base here in County Roscommon. This funding of €65 million is across 3 projects including the installation of new drug substance production equipment and warehousing facilities to support ambient and cold storage in Monksland as well as in College Park site in Blanchardstown.
This is such a boost to the local area in Athlone and will translate into more jobs as well as the construction spin-offs.
Alexion is the part of the group focused on Rare Diseases
Investment programme focuses on scaling up biologics manufacturing capability and R&D expansion at existing Blanchardstown and Athlone sites over next 18 months
The programme will centre on three investments: the installation of new drug substance production equipment and warehousing facilities to support ambient and cold storage at both sites in College Park and Athlone; and the construction of a Manufacturing Sciences & Technology Lab at College Park.
