Further €200,000 funding for Galway community groups and sports clubs.

Great news this morning with confirmation of €200,000 further funding for Galway community groups and sports clubs.
This additional government funding through the Department of Rural and Community Development for projects by community groups and sports clubs is a real boost.
Over €200,000 has been allocated to five projects in County Galway in the second tranche of CLAR funding in addition to €410,000 announced for 10 projects last month. Over 15 groups in towns and villages across Galway have now received funding in 2022 through Minister Heather Humphrey’s CLÁR programme.
CLÁR Measure 1 supports developing community facilities & amenities in more rural areas.
Congratulations to the committee for #Killyan Community Sports Field based opposite Shiven Rovers between #Ballinamore Bridge & #Newbridge. The team here have been so active especially in the last few months with volunteers painting the clubhouse and giving it a facelift as well as fundraising. This clubhouse dates back to 1932, celebrating their 90th anniversary this year and now successful funding of €45,000 to further develop walkways and lighting around the pitch as well as better drainage and a seating area for people to enjoy.
#Collins Park Community Playground in #Glenamaddy has also received funding of €18,904 to make improvements and local Councillor Peter Keaveney has been very supportive of this project. This fund is a way to access funding for playgrounds with similar projects funded for #Portumna playground and at #Donoghpatrick National School which is a great amenity for families and young children in the local areas.
Well done to the community group at #Skehana as well who have won the maximum funding of €50,000 to upgrade carparking.
Finally, to acknowledge the regeneration teams within Galway County Council who work with community groups to develop our outdoor spaces in towns & villages across the county. And at the core of these projects are volunteers within these groups to drive these ideas so well done to all.
