Finance Minister due to visit Ballinasloe to see town enhancement scheme first hand

Finance Minister, Paschal Donohoe T.D, will visit the East Galway town of Ballinasloe next week (Mon Jan 27) to view first-and the progress being made as part of the Town Enhancement Scheme. Minister Donohoe will join his Fine Gael party colleague and election candidate for the Roscommon – Galway constituency, Aisling Dolan, for a walkabout of the busy town.

Minister Donohoe will meet with local business owners to discuss the impact of the scheme of upgraded facilities and the long-term benefits for businesses and customers.

The Ballinasloe Enhancement Scheme consists of three main elements – Street Enhancement, Watermain Rehabilitation and Advance Main Drainage. The works are due to be complete in May 2020, making the town one of the newest ‘upgraded’ towns in the country.

Councillor Dolan says, “this is a fantastic opportunity for Minister Donohoe to see first-hand the work that can been done when a town is given the right investment. Businesses benefit, residents benefit and the local economy becomes viable and sustainable. It will encourage more people to shop locally reducing commutes and traffic congestion going to larger urban centres.”
