Congratulations to the Clonberne who have won over €5,000 in new LEADER Funding!!

Clonberne have been awarded €5,445 in LEADER funding with thanks to Minister Heather Humphreys, Minister of Social Protection and Rural Affairs.
The funds will be used to produce a map, including a digital map, of Clonberne Cemetery showing all who were buried, and to store this information locally and in local library. There is also funding for training on the correct methods to record and store the names on the headstones in association with mapping of Clonberne Cemetery.
Well done to the wonderful Clonberne community group for engaging on this important project, the information gathered will be a valuable resource for many years to come! The information will be a wonderful source of genealogical information for so many people at home and abroad. Our graveyards tell us so much about our history, heritage, and culture and this information must be protected. I’d also like to acknowledge the excellent work of the Tidy Towns in Clonberne who are doing such a great job for their area.👏👏
Wel done to everyone involved in making this application and congratulations!
Clonberne have a wonderful website for anyone looking to explore this lovely area of Galway. www.clonberne.ie
