Close to €8 million in Active Travel Funds for County Galway.

Close to €8 million in Active Travel Funds for County Galway.
This is incredible investment of close to €8 million in Active Travel in our towns & villages as well as walking and cycling projects in schools across County Galway. It’s a great day for communities, parents and children having more choice to walk and cycle safely.
#Ballinasloe will see over €1 million invested in footpath projects with over €330,000 in footpath improvements and €500,000 on
new footpaths to continue the current projects like in Poolboy & Beechlawn.
Funds of €250,000 have also been allocated to Transport Studies, Urban Mobility Plans and network plans for Active Travel in the town.
New footpaths are also included for funding in Caltra, Glenamaddy, Ardrahan,Ballinderreen and Garrafauns.
This is the largest allocation of funding to support our Local Authority Active Travel teams to deliver these projects. Funding from the Department of Transport has increased from roughly €45 million in 2019 to €184 million in 2021 at a national level.
