€740,000 for community halls and centres across County Roscommon

Today communities around Roscommon will be jumping for joy at much needed investment to renovate older buildings and help deal with rising costs. This fund will support retrofitting and upgrade works to halls & centres in towns & villages.
It will be a real boost especially as we are coming into the Christmas period.
I promoted this programme to groups and many were successful in the first round of funding earlier in October. To thank all the volunteers who took the time to prepare and submit these applications. Most groups who won funding today are in the large-scale category from €100,000 to €300,000 with communities match-funding.
The South Roscommon Family Resource Centre at Vita House is a crucial support for families in Roscommon town. Today they have won €38,000 in funding for an accessible entrance and toilet as well as baby changing facilities and a stairlift as well as investing in energy efficiency. The Centre runs parent & toddler groups, art clubs, cancer care service and offer counselling and mediation. An excellent team and first point of contact to support families and children.
Well done to Drum Community Centre who have won €100,000 for a complete electrical upgrade as well as replacing over 40 windows and all emergency exit doors. Youth Clubs, karate and bingo are popular in the Centre and Councillor John Naughten is closely involved with groups in the area.
The Elphin Community Centre group have a significant funding award of €285,000 to refurbish meeting rooms, toilets as well as investing in acoustics and solar panels for energy efficiency.
Kilbride Community & Leisure Centre took on the mantle of the major vaccination hub for the county last year and provided a service to so many in difficult times. With successful funding of over €46,000, the centre will invest in solar panels, a mobile stage as well as lighting and repairs. The Social Enterprise Awards were hosted in the Kilbride Community Centre last October and thank you to all the volunteers and Roscommon Leader Partnership as the place looked fantastic. Minister Heather Humphreys joined by video link to wish the participants well. And on Saturday 10th December, a crafts fair is taking place.
Congratulations to St Ronan’s Hall in Keadue who have won €146,000 in funding for Phase 2 of the refurbishment plan for a new foyer, stage and kitchen. Previous investment from Roscommon Leader Partnership renovated roof, toilets and sewerage system. Roscommon Gaels have also won €25,000 to replace windows and doors.
Boyle Family Resource Centre is a fantastic resource for local families and won €100,000 for a full upgrade of windows, doors, electricial work as well as accessibility measures. They are currently running their Christmas Food Appeal so people can drop in hampers until 14th Dec and join in the spirit of giving this season.
