€360k in funding for 8 CLÁR projects funded in County Roscommon

I’m delighted to see €360,000 allocated to community projects and volunteer groups across County Roscommon. My colleague Minister Heather Humphreys has announced the community part of Measure 1 today and it’s great to see so many successful projects for the county.

Ballinagare Health & Leisure Centre have won €50,000 to renovate their community hall and to thank the volunteers working with Cllr Liam Callaghan and Roscommon County Council on this project. Ballyleague Hall will also have funding to upgrade their community hall.

National Schools can also apply for funding to CLÁR and it is great to see 2 national schools in Tulsk and Ballintleva who will now be able to develop Astro-turf pitches for school-children in the area.

Castleplunkett and Ballintubber Development Associations have applied and won funding of €50,000 each to develop amenity spaces and playground equipment. And great initiatives by community groups to raise their own funding as well especially with the Sustainable Living draw initiative and a great Back to the Future promotional video by the actors in Ballintubber!

Over €32,000 for Ballaghaderreen Community Pitch to improve drainage and facilities. And Moore Community Council have also won €26,000 to upgrade the car parks in the local area which is well needed when we see the huge crowds turning out to see plays and Christmas markets in the Centre. There are great ideas to make our towns and villages great places to live and community centres with so many activities like the recent concert with Mary Coughlan and Ultan Conlon in Moore Community Centre before Christmas. This brought people from near and far to enjoy a wonderful night in a upgraded venue with excellent sound and lighting. Not to mention the complimentary teas & coffees at the break!

These eight projects will bring so much to people living in these areas and is fantastic news for so many community groups and their volunteers and I want to pay special thanks to the people who spend hours working on applications and with the team in Roscommon County Council.”Minister Heather Humphreys has made it her priority to ensure communities get a boost and we have won fantastic investment into the county under the Department of Rural and Community Development.

The CLÁR funding is being provided as part of Our Rural Future, the Government’s strategic five-year rural development plan which supports a thriving and inclusive rural Ireland.

I want to thank Minister Humphreys for this new initiative through the CLÁR programme which will bring investment and have a major impact for communities.
